The college tour started with an information session in an auditorium style room where key details are explained. The overview covers topics such as the admissions process, deadlines, cost of attendance, financial aid, student demographics, clubs and organizations and student support services. Navigating the campus was a great experience and offered many photo opportunities to capture the beautiful grounds. The academic buildings and student unions and dorms are no less impressive. There is great attention to detail with well-manicured lawns and shrubbery. Even the walkways and paved areas and building interiors were nicely done. It will leave you with a strong desire to attend.

As an aspiring journalist, UMD’s proximity to major urban centers such as Washington DC makes it ideal for covering news stories and current event. During my college tour, I had scheduled to visit the Philip Merrill College of Journalism. I saw how stories are managed by current broadcast students and aired on the campus cable network the same day. It was an awesome experience to witness students working in real time to meet deadlines for airing a show. The staff was amazing and willing to take time to answer questions.
